When Spring rolls around, snow, or sun shine, I get reinvigorated with optimism. It’s the mix of a new season, warmer weather, and the fashion from last fall’s shows waiting to hit the market. As the spring editions of magazines roll in I flip through the pages ravenously looking at how the brands will show their latest in print.

I’m as guilty as the next pop-culture fiend for Keeping up with the Kardashians. They are an example of leveraging every ounce of their person – real and fabricated - for fame. Whether or not you like their motive or tactics, there’s not much point in trying to deny their influence.

Does seeing and doing the same thing over and over bore you? Do you ever play devils advocate, just for fun? If you see a group of people all dressed the same do you get disappointed (and I’m not talking about working people in a mandatory uniform)? I say, Yes, yes, and oh for sure yes.

Leading up to this year’s Academy Awards the chatter was all about #OscarsSoWhite. After the nominations were announced in January, many felt that many deserving movies, and actors, were left out. The immediate #OscarsSoWhite reaction was trending soon after the nominees were announced. 

Like any other fashion fanatic, these past couple weeks viewing the Spring/Summer presentations are an insatiable treat. First New York, now London, and soon enough it will be time for Paris. Le sigh. As the collections strut their way down the runway, my eyes been drawn to the floor. 

A friend told me that I have been quite negative lately. Slamming this. Critiquing that. Add that to the already dour mood of February in an economically challenged city and you’ve got one huge drag. My bad. In the spirit of seeing the sunny side of things, I’d like to share what’s good. 

Like many others this weekend I was anticipating Superbowl 50. Not for the sport, but for the entertainment. Three out of the four acts are hot, hot, hot in fashion while the fourth plays cold (lame pun, I know). The Hollywood Reporter posted that nearly 112 million viewers watched the show. Likely it was the biggest audience for any of Beyoncé, Coldplay, Gaga and Mars.

After an overly dramatic breath in a sighed exhale out I zipped up my rolling bag full of carefully selected clothing and accessories. I was ready to go to the airport on my way to London, England. Similar to when I visited New York a couple summers ago I’m was like a child on Christmas morning about this trip. 

Earlier this month Dolce & Gabbana launched a niche product in a blossoming market. Luxury hijabs and abayas adorned with the Italian brands signature elaborate work just arrived the Middle East. The beautiful items are embellished with lace and luscious prints sure to lure Muslim and non-Muslin fashion fanatics alike.

The Golden Globes is the rare night when TV and movie actors walk side by side and sit next to each other around tables to celebrate the year’s best. It’s also one of the best nights for Hollywood fashion. I am equally interested in what they wear and what they say. 

I'm all for editing down, making sure you surround yourself with people and things that bring you joy, and getting rid of junk that brings you down. Especially as we gear up to welcome a new year. For the final post of 2015, I'm taking out the trash.

We are all waiting… for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Am I right? Of course, the holiday season is too in it’s final surge - like the movie promotions - before the world slows down for a few, quiet and sweet days. But this year it feels different. There’s something special in the air. At the very least it feel different to me. Something is about to wake us up.
