Last weekend was spent doodling around Boston and the surrounding inner-city areas like a typical tourist. I walked the Freedom Trail, ate clam chowder out of a bread bowl, and yes, set my feet on Harvard’s historic ground.

Hey planet, I know it’s was just your birthday - happy bazillion and twenty five (or is it six?) - so I’ve been thinking a lot about you. It’s is a hella good time to reflect and think a bit more about what’s really going on with us. We’ve got some work to do.

You know what I love? A city coming together for joy. Our city has seen better years – and worse I’m sure – but Calgary sure could use a unifying pick me up right about now. Oh wait, we’re going for the cup, aren’t we? Pull out your jerseys and hop on the wagon, kindly would you?

Beyoncé is showing us the way, the way forward, yet again. Just the other day it was announced that Beyoncé will be working in partnership with Adidas for what can presumably one of the biggest athletic merchandise deals ever.

Ladies, gents, folks, non-binary, and cute fashion squirrels. I’ve got news for you. It’s time to open your wallets and hearts and get shopping. This weekend, Dress For Success Calgary is selling non-corporate women wear to the public for a fraction of what even the thrift stores would sell it for. 

As with any type of self-proclaimed nerd – be it geography, food, sports, or fashion - I want to help others learn. That sometimes means unlearning so things. One thing that makes my eye twitch a bit is when someone erroneously declares something “curated vintage” that was from 11 or so years ago. Nope.

If you are new to my site, first thing first: hello, you look fabulous. Second, for the frequent fashion friends that have been with me for years – thank you, love you – you know I love a style challenge. This one I’m in now, is a doozy.

Each year fashion people salivate at the prospect of commenting on the hits and misses of Hollywood’s elite on the red carpet. Too much this, not enough that, and the sweet spot in between can cement a celebrity look in the fashion archives forever. Or until another big event in our ever changing news cycle sweeps us away.

Every few years I feel like I am getting closer to self-actualization through dress. Yes, I’ve manipulated Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs to be entirely sartorial focused. I’ve come to realize when it comes to loving yourself you either start from the inside out, or like me, the outside and work towards the deep dark in.

Every year the Recording Academy hosts the biggest party of the American music industry: the Grammys. The industry congregates to the city of lights to celebrate the best of the year. Well, some of the best. 

I love winter, I do. That said, a few days into this ultra-cold snap and all I can think about I how delicious it would be to slip into a bathing suit, walk along a sandy beach, and jump into the ocean.

Tuesday February 05 marks Chinese New Year, welcoming in the Year of the Pig. To say I’m excited would be an understatement. Over the past few years, as I’ve come to know a little more, it’s a tradition that I’ve started in my home and life.
