For as many weddings as people seem to go to, I still get asked over and over what to wear where. It seems to be a mystifying and terrifying situation for many guests. It never ceases to amaze me that no matter what wedding I go to, be it a beach, backyard, or swanky art gallery, some people are totally lost.

Stampede has taken over our city yet again. It’s a hoot. I love that it brings people from all over the world to our city for one reason: to have a good time. I also love it because people put on some g-dang jeans. Other than the mountains, Calgary’s tourism scene is usually quiet. Stampede helps shake things up a bit. Yee Haw!

After a long weekend mostly outdoors, I spent a majority of the time in a swimsuit. It’s a gals best friend when at the lake. After wearing a fair share that didn’t fit right in my past escapades, there’s nothing quite like a swimsuit that allows you to go about your day without worrying about it. Maybe all the sunblock chemicals went to my head because all I can think about is what our bathing suits would say if they could talk?

As we approach Canada’s 150th birthday this weekend I am full of mixed emotions. On the one hand I know how privileged I am to be born and live in this country. On the other I’m becoming more aware of its painful history. Specifically, I am mindful of the human cost that has got us to this point. All in all, I’m caught somewhere between pride, gratefulness, and guilt.

While I am no insider, I have spent more time playing and following your sport than I ever thought I would. The things you do for the ones you love, am I right? Fore! I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not the hugest fan of yours. I’m not sure I’m even a fan of your play, really. Hear me out.

When you think of Nashville, aka: Music City, what comes to mind? Honkey Tonks, live music, a lot of drawls, “yee haw’s,” and “y’alls”? All of that is true. What you may not have thoughts about was else the city has to offer. May I suggest the next time you head to Nashville, check out one of the best ticket’s in town: a drag show.

Every year, the CFDA Awards honours the best of brightest of the fashion industry. Outside of the awards for the designers, they highlight stand out people outside of the immediate fashion community. This year, 3 Board of Directors’ Tribute awards were given to Planned Parenthood’s Cecile Richards; the inimitable powerhouse Gloria Steinem; and musician and actor, Janelle Monáe.

One of the ways I try to get to know someone and their style is to ask questions. A.lot.of.questions. How people respond and what they share can be so helpful in getting some understanding. What people share personally helps to lay out the foundation. Then, together, we can build upon that and get them a personal style that they love.

I have been delighting in the Cannes red carpet fashion the past week. There’s nothing like coastal France to bring out the extra in everyone. Tonnes of the film industry players – actors, directors, producers, financiers, and model philanthropists – are all swaggering their way down that glorious-right-near-the-water carpet. With all the nasty stuff going on, it’s especially nice to escape for a wee bit.

My annual – and sometimes more than annual – trip to Las Vegas was fast approaching on my calendar. That meant that I was checking the weather for the pool scene more times than my emails. Bad work ethic, perhaps, but I had the itch to get some of that desert summer sun.As I started to think about what to pack in my carry on, I got FOMO in the ways I could approach it

I’ll say it. When it comes to style I dislike fitting in, looking like everyone else, and a lot of the hurry-up-and-join-everyone-else trends for trend sake. This is not to say that I don’t love seeing a new interpretation of something and thinking to myself, “Hey that looks like it’s my jam.” Or “So-and-so would look greatttttt in that.” Fashion is fun. That’s part of the attraction. Where I struggle is the seemingly inauthentic adoption of “cool” just because it’s what everyone is doing.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year… MET Gala! Readers, you know pumped up this night is for fashion lovers like me. It’s the most fashiony-fashion night on the entire fashion calendar. The event is the kick off fundraiser for the MET’s Costume Institute. It’s a fantastical night full of celebrities, fashion, and fighting over the choices of the first two.
