Amplifying Black Voices

In Fashion

The past few weeks have been revolutionary. People of colour have been pleading societies about systemic racism for years, decades, and centuries. Now, finally, the world is not only hearing the cries but we are actually doing something. we being white people.

As a white person, my learning and unlearning so far needs to step up. It’s not enough to feel it, action must follow. I’m in the midst of shutting up, listening, and amplifying the black voices in my community. But that’s not enough. I need to confront how my thoughts and actions have perpetuated a system that works for so few at the cost of millions of people. It’s not right and I’ve personally got things wrong in the past. It’s a process. I’ll continue to make mistakes as I stay on my personal journey of allyship. But if I don’t try – inaction is a privilege it itself - there’s nothing to learn and improve upon.

I’ll shut up now and share the work of others instead. This post is all about amplifying Black excellence in fashion. And wouldn’t you know, it’s fabulous.
